Met a friend of Van & Rosie's with her son. He was to be engaged next Friday and had come home from New York to let his mother know. We got to hear about it to. Such a nice tall (6 foot 5 inch) young man. May see them both at lunch tomorrow after church.
Headed over/under the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel to Newport News for supper at a lovely Italian restaurant. Huge portion of lasagna and had to wrap about half of it to take home. Met a college (= Uni) friend of Rosie's and her friend and chatted over the meal. That's me, Van and Myra a la Italian.
Then off to a local university to see HMS Pinafore. It was a great production - they sprayed colored/coloured confetti from a cannon on the crowd at the end of the performance.
Was about to slip into bed when the phone rang and it was Mel calling to say Hi. Chatted for a while and then slipped between the sheets.
I understand that next Friday we start off on a mini-vacation. We head down to North Carolina to attend the wedding of Rosie's nephew and will meet both Chris and Robert as well as other members of Rosie's family at the rehearsal dinner Saturday night. Then, briefly, we go to Asheville for a few days, down to Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC before we come back home. Looks like we'll be away for just over a week. Will take the computer to update the blog.
Thanks to Ingrid and Alex for their notes. More to come.
Hi Mum, Rosie and Van, love the photo from the Italian restaurant. Everyone looks very relaxed. The council dropped a dead gum tree out front last week. We have started using the wood for our fire. It is increasingly becoming cooler in the evenings. Karl's been up in the roof again searching for the cause of the strange noises which are occurring in the night. Caught up with Anne and Victoria Mah at the Central Market last Saturday. I had drinks after work with Jenny and Sharon last Friday evening. Otherwise, no news. I'll catch up on your news later in the week Ingrid xxx
